  • A year on the green
Week 29 - 13th April
The Green open day is six days away and final preparations are under way!
It's time to tackle the green mold that always appears on this corner wall. Pressure washing gets most of it off followed by a retardant agent to stop it growing again.
Hey presto the wall is a lot cleaner....
Len starts the first cut of the week.
Tony finishes off the first cut.
Another job finished is putting all the corks back in the ditches
Hazel's having a go at a bit of cleaning
It would seem the flag pole is long overdue for a coat of paint. Guess who got that job......
The two brackets made by Graeme have been painted and now fixed to the housing ready to wind the hose pipe around.
A new door frame for the outside notice was made up and is waiting for me to paint it (after the flag pole though)!
The busy week continues and Wednesday was no exception....
First Job of the day is putting some holes in the Green.
This is followed swiftly by a cut.
In the meantime the new door fitted to the front notice board needed a coat of paint.
Neville is putting his skills to good use and making up another tool rack.
All the Wintered benches and tables had to be got out and placed around the Green.
Hazel's up the ladder cleaning the very dirty plastic.
All this warm weather makes the grass grow so the banks need a cut.
One undercoat and top coat applied to the front notice board!
Even the flag pole this year came down and had a coat of paint. All ready for the new flag when it arrives....
Friday......last day before Open Day so it's work, work, work!
The hedge in front of one of the work sheds needed trimming.
Trimming the Green edges is always an important role.
The final grass cut before the Open Day.
We enjoyed ourselves so much we cut the grass twice...
Brian is giving the windows the once over!
Hazel is still cleaning the guttering etc.
The newly painted flag pole was rehoused in it's place.
Macolm and Neville are blocking up various holes where the new roof covering was fitted.
After all that cutting a once over with the heavy roller and hopefully we are ready for Open Day.
