  • A year on the green
Week 38 - 15th June
Monday is here again and it's back to the Green. Our green Keeper was busy over the weekend as he gave the Green a good water and he treated the dreaded fairy rings, that are starting to appear, with some molasses, a tip he picked up from somewhere! The good news is the main mower is back up and running so we should be able to give it a try this coming Wednesday.
Deep spiking was the first job. A very worth while job but a very slow process.
After the spiking a good cut.
In the meantime the banks get another trim.
Wednesday morning and and the weather's looking good for a change so plenty to do!
A covering of small spiking holes is first on the agenda.
After the spiking a grooming keeps down the thatch and annual seeds.
Finally a good cut and our best mower is up and running again thanks to Graham and Malcolm.
The dreaded Fairyrings being treated with more Molasses.
Grass and weeds seem to grow everywhere.
Friday is here and it's the Club's President's Day tomorrow so it's all hands to the pump....
No initial holes needed in the Green this morning so it's straight on with the grass cut.
After the grass cut a good spaying of weed killer was put down.
We are still trying the Molasses on the Fairyrings. Only time will tell...
A good trim of the grass edges always looks good afterwards.
Some of the main hedges needed straightening.
Of course the grass on the banks needed another cut.
At the front of the building we even had a go at removing the weeds and grass growing out of all those odd places.
